Recently Deceased: Val Evans


It is with great sadness that we announce Mrs Valda Evans passed away on Saturday 9 September 2017 after a short illness. Mrs Evans was the founding President of Ashbury Netball Club from inception in 1972 to 2017. She was the ‘tuck-shop’ lady at St Francis Xavier’s Primary School for 24 years (retiring in 2003).

Prayers for the Repose of the Soul of Valda will be held within the Mary Mother of Mercy Chapel Rookwood Catholic Cemetery, Barnet Avenue, Rookwood on MONDAY (September 18th, 2017) commencing at 12.30 pm followed by a burial within the adjoining Cemetery grounds.

 

Recently Deceased: Meryl Tapsell

It is with great regret we announce Mrs Meryl Tapsell passed away on 4 September 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Mrs Tapsell worked at St Francis Xavier from 1996 to 2013 and was our well loved music teacher.

Mass of Christian Burial for Meryl will be offered in St James’ Church, Woolley Street, Forest Lodge on Monday, September 11, 2017, commencing at 1:30 pm.

Mr. Francesco Ilacqua of 2 Forbes Street passed away on 30/8/2017, aged 83. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10am on Tuesday 5 September at our Church. May his soul rest in peace.

Recently Deceased: Sr. Agnes Guiren

It is with great sadness we announce the demise of Sr. Agnes Guiren, aged 92, Sr. Agnes was a teacher here at Ashbury many years ago and is still remembered fondly by her pupils. May her soul rest in peace.

The funeral of Sr. Agnes will take place on 25th August at 11 am at St. Francis Xavier Parish, Ashbury followed by refreshment at the Piazza. Burial at Rookwood Cemetery at 2 pm.

Memorial Mass for Monsignor Gregory Weaver will be held on Sat 15 July at 8am followed by morning tea at the Piazza.

The Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney has not established nor is it managing a fund to assist Cardinal Pell.

Mons Gregory Weaver RIP


Dear Parishioners,

It is with great sadness that I advise you of the death of Monsignor Gregory Weaver, who entered Eternal Life earlier today, Wednesday 28th June. He was aged 90. Mgr Weaver served as Parish Priest of St Francis Xavier’s Ashbury from 1989 before retiring to lesser duties in 1997. May he rest in peace.
